Following an extensive design development period with Doncaster Council, Planning permission has been granted for the development of 67 one and two bed apartments on the former NHS Clinic & Day Centre located on Glebe Road, Thorne Doncaster.
Developed from inception out of the sketchbook with our Atelier 1 studio in Derry, the design forms as an L shaped arrangement which provides a strong linear street frontage onto the existing residential amenity off Haynes Road and a larger detached block which addresses the existing public amenity space to the west of the site. Careful consideration is given to the existing trees on the site with the proposed building blocks being positioned to retain as many of the trees as possible.
A glazed vertical circulation core provides entry to the linear block from each side and breaks down the building mass. External surface parking is combined with a proportion of undercroft garages. Materials consist of predominantly brick facades with aluminium glazing and zinc standing seam cladding to mansard roofs.
Managing Director Graham McDarby said:
“We are delighted to gain planning permission for the project and we are grateful to our clients who have had full trust in us and have allowed us to deliver a design which exceeds expectation.”
