Planning Permission has been granted for the development and extension of three new classrooms and associated teaching resources at New Delaval Primary School with a construction value in excess of £1.3m. The extension project draws design and material inspiration from the existing school and has been located to minimise disruption to the operational school during construction. Technical designs have been completed and the project is currently being rendered and is anticipated to start on site in Spring 2019. Completion is anticipated for the intake of the 2019-2020 academic year, adding provision for the anticipated increased uptake of school places.
Architectural Director Chris Allan said:
“This is terrific news! Leading and coordinating the full design team, our goal was to carry out all of the detailed and coordinated design consecutively during the planning consultation period to enable the project to progress to site at the earliest opportunity. A number of detailed issues have been addressed to avoid unnecessary pre-commencement planning conditions which puts us in a healthy position to achieve a tight programme. Our team pulled out all of the stops to produce a fully encompassing tender package for a traditional form of contract inside six weeks from inception! We had an incredibly tight time frame in order to align with a programme allowing the client to be in receipt of a completed building in time for the 2019/2020 academic year. I’m pleased to say that this planning approval puts us currently ahead of schedule.”
