GRADONARCHITECTURE have had the privilege to work with Middlesbrough Council, and Planning and Landscape consultants Valley Environmental, to refine the vision for the land at Stainsby. We are delighted that the latest scheme has just been released for public consultation.
The vision for Stainsby is a sustainable, mixed, and balanced community set within an outstanding and engaging landscape. This includes the creation of a new public country park.
The character of the development will be defined by the landscape setting and the importance of nature. It will enhance and extend existing habitats, while also creating a wide range of new habitats for the benefit of people and wildlife. It will offer a net gain in biodiversity, climate change resilience, and ecosystem services to the wider environment.
This vision seeks to provide:
More than 40 hectares of additional green public open space with planting of 18,000-25,000 native trees and shrubs
A new country park
Community amenities including play and sports areas
Housing within a landscaped setting
A commitment to Middlesbrough Council’s One Planet Living principles
Public orchards with fruit trees
A proposed community hub and visitor centre
