Plans are submitted for a new church which unites the three churches of St Andrews URC, Blackhill Baptist Church and Blackhill Methodist Church in Consett Co Durham UK. The new building seeks to consolidate the three congregations into one facility to ensure the vitality of the church going forward by attracting a wider range of age groups. A series of bold architectural forms seek to announce the presence of the new church to the street. The worship hall is a double height rectilinear form with vertical slots of glazing running along the side elevations. A curved drum sanctuary with a ring of glazing articulating the two forms providing natural light and ventilation to the building users.
